Course Details

This intermediate-level course reviews some of the most important grammar points that students need to understand in order to successfully communicate in English. This includes practice with simple present, simple past, present continuous, and past continuous tenses. Students will also work on organizing their speech and writing by improving their use of pronoun reference and transitions. In addition, students will be introduced to passive and active voice and a variety of sentence types.

While there will be opportunities to practice reading and listening, the majority of the course focuses on improving accuracy in speaking and writing. Grammar points are contextualized in real-life scenarios, and students are given opportunities to practice them through games and projects.

Before taking this course, students should be able to speak and write in sentence-length discourse. They should also be able to understand short texts.

Course Prerequisites

Mandatory Placement Requirement:

All new and returning students are required to take a placement exam before classes begin to determine their correct placement into the course section.
