Course Description

More and more often, communications professionals in today's work environment, whether corporate, government or the non-profit sector, are tasked with not just writing press releases and planning events, but also crafting good speeches at a moment's notice. This course gives a hands-on, detailed lesson in the art of speechwriting, including what works, what doesn't work, how to make points clearly and maintain the audience interest and how to gently coach your principle in the art of good speech delivery. Participants will look at some of the greatest speeches, examine the experiences of some of the greats, and then put lessons learned to practice by testing their skill at capturing a voice, writing a solid speech and delivering a message.

  • Crafting a solid speech
  • Identifying ways to effectively capture a speaker's voice
  • Identifying ways to use speechwriting to successfully convey a message or a policy
  • Understanding how to use speechwriting to deliver soundbites and make news
