The ability to meet or exceed financial targets is a core competency for executive leaders. This course is specifically designed for business managers seeking a stronger foundation in financial management and investor relations.
This course has two primary goals. First, participants will gain the confidence critical to financial management and the ability to tie fiscal leadership to strategic goals. Additionally, participants will gain communication skills to work more effectively with managers and executives in the chief financial officer (CFO) areas of organizations.
Weekend 1 – (9 hrs)
The first day offers critical insight into the work of the CFO. Participants will review core areas required to make strategic financial decisions including:
- Internal controls and risk management
- Basic terms of investment management such as ROI and NPV
- Raising funding and financial structures
- Mergers & acquisitions
- Investor relations
Weekend 2 – (9 hrs)
The second day is divided into two sections. The first section is a scenario analysis in which participants must make strategic financial decisions for a specific case study such as a merger or acquisition. The second section revolves around discussion and self-assessment in the area of financial management. Case studies are a key teaching methodology.
