Course Description

Capstone Course in Early Intervention will be the culmination of the Certificate in Early Intervention Certificate Program. Over the course of the program, program participants will produce a scholarly product related to a particular topic. Throughout the year, progam participants will meet regularly with faculty advisors to track progress and discuss their project. Students will be held to strict deadlines and their work will be both peer and advisor-reviewed. The work will be judged for its professional value and students will be encouraged and assisted in finding appropriate homes for their work in a recognized publication or media outlet. Each Capstone project will result in a poster or platform presentation at the annual conference held by the GU Center for Child and Human Development in June.

Course Objectives

 

By the end of the course, successful students will be able to:

  • Conceptualize an early intervention-related scholarly project, produce the project, and describe the project in writing

Course Registration

Enrollment in this course is restricted. Students must submit an application and be accepted into the Certificate in Early Intervention in order to register for this course.

Current Georgetown students must create an application using their Georgetown NetID and password. New students will be prompted to create an account.

Course Format

Capstone Course in Early Intervention is a guided independent-study course that requires close collaboration with faculty. The course takes place over the duration of the certificate program. Program participants are expected to coordinate meetings, project plans, and deadlines directly with their assigned faculty advisor from Center for Child and Human Development.
