Course Description

Georgetown University, in collaboration with the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and AFYA, Inc. is convening a "Leadership Academy to Address Disparities in Mental Health Care," August 30–September 2, 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Academy will begin at 3:30 pm on Monday August 30, 2010 and end on Thursday, September 2nd at 9:30 pm.

GOALS
Upon completion of the Georgetown Leadership Academy on Addressing Disparities in Mental Health Care, you will:

  • gain knowledge and skills to serve as agents of change;
  • recognize your capacity to lead regardless of your designated position within your
  • organization/setting;
  • make a commitment to your leadership role;
  • develop strategies to sustain yourself as a leader in chaotic, difficult and challenging environments.
DESCRIPTION
The Leadership Academy is an intensive course of study comprised of 3 months of preparatory activities and a four-day residential learning experience. Participants will be guided through a variety of learning opportunities that engage multiple learning styles. These opportunities include: webinars, peer group discussions, lectures, writing assignments, coaching, experiential exercises, and leadership assessments. In addition to an enriching learning experience, once you complete the program you will be enrolled in the Leadership Academy Alumni Network, allowing you to continue your learning and expand your networking opportunities. We encourage multiple applications from your organization/ setting. Selection of applicants however will be made on an individualized basis.

LIMITED TO 50 PARTICIPANTS

REGISTRATION FEE: $450.00* includes all materials; daily breakfast, lunch and breaks; an opening dinner reception and a closing graduation banquet.

*The Leadership Academy recognizes the important role of consumer and family voice as demonstrated by their inclusion in all aspects of the Academy. As such, a limited number of scholarships are available for families and consumers to cover the cost of registration. See website for more detailed information.
