Course Description

Course Description:
This one-day, intensive workshop is designed for anyone who needs to write grant proposals that win funding whether the funding organization is a government agency, a corporation, a non-profit institute, or academic center. The approach is hands-on and highly practical. Participants come to the workshop with ideas for (or even an early draft of) a grant proposal they plan to submit. During the session, participants apply all course techniques directly to their own grant proposal -- aided by expert coaching. No long lectures or hypothetical exercises. This is learning by doing.

Topics include:

  • Framing projects and ideas as solutions to challenges/opportunities that matter to funders
  • Using best practices from past grant proposal winners
  • Responding effectively to grant review criteria or required application outlines
  • Anticipating responses and questions from peer reviewers
  • Creating \"Broad Brush Strokes\" that crystallize key elements so readers can scan the whole before delving deeper into sections
  • Employing visual design approaches to make ideas and strategic thinking pop off the page
