Course Description

Regardless of industry or functional responsibility, managers must possess the fundamental tools to understand and analyze their organizations' financial indicators. This course will start with a review of key terms and concepts, and introduce generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”). Case studies and real-world examples will be used so the participants can learn how to: Read and understand financial statements (i.e. the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement, the Statement of Cash Flows); Gain basic knowledge of strategic financial and budget planning; Conduct scenario analysis and break-even analysis; Calculate commonly used financial ratios (i.e. cost of capital and return on investment); and Recognize trends and evaluate organizational performance.
