Course Description

Taught by faculty from Georgetown University’s Kennedy Institute of Ethics (KIE), this course will explore challenges in navigating a patient centered approach to bioethics and tools for effective communication of these issues within one’s organization. The course will be run through Ethics Lab at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, which uses creative exercises drawn from the world of design to tackle complex moral problems. Ethics Lab takes a practical approach to applied ethics using a mix of philosophical tools and design thinking to help participants learn to identify ethical issues, think creatively about how to approach complex problems, and envision alternative courses of action. Participants will learn to effectively communicate these issues within an organization and apply mission-driven thinking to workplace conversations.
