Course Description

Students will be exposed to areas involving intellectual property, conducting business on the Internet, Employment Law, and a broad overview of litigation. Concerning intellectual property, students will explore the subject matter protected by patent law, trademark law, and copyright law. In addition, students will examine some of the pitfalls that may arise when conducting business on the Internet. Still further, students will confront some of the impacts of employment law on businesses today. Finally, students will review some of the common issues that businesses might encounter if faced with litigation

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Differentiate how intellectual property is protected
  • Recognize the risks of conducting business on the Internet
  • Identify how employment law impacts business
  • Discuss how litigation can impact the business
