Course Description

Nursing, is a dynamic, challenging, vibrant and the largest workforce in health care. Through daily interactions with faculty, you will get a snapshot of the field of nursing where you will address topics such as fundamentals of the profession in various healthcare settings, ethics, cultural competency, biological, physical, and social sciences, as well as career roadmaps. You will have the opportunity to engage in faculty-led instruction and hands on clinical experiences through simulation at the O’Neill Family Foundation Clinical Simulation Center. The high-fidelity simulator can realistically replicate physiological conditions and symptoms as well as pharmacological responses, allowing you an immersive experience in a safe, supervised environment. You will explore a variety of advanced nursing specializations; which includes Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse Educator, Nurse-Midwifery/Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.

Program Format & Subject Areas

 

As a student in the Nursing Academy, you'll spend your time engaged in a combination of class sessions, field trips, hands-on workshops, group discussions, and extracurricular activities. Throughout the course of the program, you'll have the opportunity to explore the following subject areas:
