Course Description

The Leading and Managing People course provides participants with tools to assess their personal styles of managing, motivating, and communicating with employees and other organizational stakeholders. Participants are introduced to effective frameworks, analytical skills and tools needed to engage and develop employees to achieve organizational results. The program is designed for senior managers looking to develop their interpersonal and leadership competencies, and offers an immersion into the knowledge and competencies for effective leadership and management. Through case studies, interactive lectures, simulations, and peer learning, participants learn how to deliver more value to their organizations and stakeholders.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand their leadership style and strengths, and how to optimize them
  • Apply a coaching style that inspires and mobilizes others to perform

  • Evaluate group and team dynamics, and how leaders shape team decision-making and performance in complex organizational contexts

  • Describe common performance appraisal processes

  • Frame conversations and deliver difficult messages to advance ideas, build consensus, and win support

  • Develop confidence and skills in managing conflict, and in using evidence-based strategies to get things done within and outside the workplace
