The Certificate in Data Science is a cohort-based, competitive program with a selective admission process. An application is required to enroll in the program. If accepted, students are required to enroll in all eight courses and complete the program in one semester. A completed application will include the following documents: 

  • Completed application form
  • Resume/CV (please submit as PDF)
  • Statement of Purpose (please submit as PDF)

Program Pre-requisites

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Completion of at least two college-level math courses (e.g. statistics, calculus)
  • Basic familiarity with programming or a programming language
  • A laptop for class meetings and coursework

Students must have general competence with algebra (to build models) and statistics (to analyze data) in addition to a basic understanding of calculus (to understand optimization problems). Please be aware of the time commitment related to this program; students may spend anywhere from 5-20 hours a week on work/projects depending on their expertise and/or work ethic. 

Computer Programming Pre-requisites

During the program, students will use the Python programming language extensively in class and for the team project. Students with limited or no programming experience are strongly encouraged to gain basic skills and experience in Python prior to enrolling in the program. We recommend the following resources:
