Course Description

This six-week professional certificate offers business leaders, analysts, and decision-makers the knowledge and skills to design, generate, and communicate strategic scenarios using artificial intelligence. The program introduces the conceptual foundations of scenario planning, tracing its intellectual roots to strategic foresight practices employed by military institutions and later adapted by corporations, governments, and NGOs. Integrating traditional scenario planning methods with advanced prompt engineering and generative AI tools, the program enables participants to construct evidence-based, plausible, probable, and measurable scenarios that inform high-stakes decision-making. Participants will produce AI-assisted scenario portfolios enhanced with visuals and storytelling to influence strategic thinking across industries.

Target Audience

  • Business leaders and innovation officers
  • Strategic planners and consultants
  • Policy analysts and foresight professionals
  • Risk managers and crisis leaders
  • Anyone responsible for strategic decisions under uncertainty

Course Outline

Module 1 – Foundations of AI-Scenario Design: Principles, Structures, and Strategic Applications

Analyze the theoretical underpinnings and practical uses of scenario design, including the core principles of plausibility, probability, and measurability

Apply traditional tools (e.g., STEEP, cross-impact analysis) to build initial scenario logic.

Module 2 - AI Prompt Engineering for Scenario Generation

Design and refine AI prompts to generate structured, logically consistent scenarios that reflect uncertainty, creativity, and strategic relevance.

Evaluate AI-generated scenario narratives for consistency and plausibility

Module 3 - Advanced AI-Scenario Techniques: What-Ifs, Alternatives, and Extreme Futures

Generate complex scenario types including high-impact/low-probability futures, "what-if" simulations, and alternative futures.

Use AI-enhanced iterative prompts and structured imagination.

Module 4 - Assessing AI-Scenarios: Validity, Coherence, Bias, and Strategic Fit

Apply structured evaluation methods to test AI-generated scenarios for logical consistency, bias, evidentiary alignment, and decision-making utility.

Module 5 - Visualizing and Communicating AI-Scenarios

Use generative AI tools to produce images, videos, and visual narratives that convey strategic scenarios to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Module 6 - Capstone: AI-Scenario Portfolio for Strategic Decision-Making

Integrate traditional methods, AI generation, and visual storytelling into a final scenario portfolio that addresses a real-world strategic decision context.

Course Objectives

Learning Outcomes
