Course Description

In the Customized Executive Certificate in Advancing Inclusion and Belonging in the Workplace, participants will accelerate their shift from Basic to Advanced competencies in alignment with Cummins’s Values Difference Competency Levels. Recognizing that team members at Cummins bring a range of familiarity with concepts in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) to bear on their work and operate around the world in countries and cultures that have their own unique local DEIA regulations, considerations, and targets, the program will centralize participants’ understanding of fundamental concepts in DEIA while growing their ability to use best practices in the work place. The content would take into consideration local needs and the current political and rhetorical environment facing companies and individuals. The recognition that DEIA provides a core element of strategic leadership practices will provide useful context for practitioners as they navigate the implementation of inclusive policies at the workplace in any country.

Course Objectives

  • Understand, identify, and examine the foundational concepts of Othering, Bridging, Inclusion & Belonging and the role they play in building inclusive systems.
  • Analyze and experiment with conflict, resistance, complexity and various ways they show up across cultures and geographies worldwide.
  • Assess, develop and deepen their emotional and social competence skills.
  • Apply and model the conscious use-of-self to influence and support the work of Inclusion and Belonging
  • Utilize and adapt communication skills to ensure connection across difference and business needs are addressed.
