Course Description

The internship placement provides a unique opportunity to apply new skills and knowledge, gain exposure to a practice area, and gain experience in a professional legal environment or corporate setting. Leveraging the program's outstanding reputation with the DC Metro legal employer community, program staff identify and tailor internship placements to student interests. Internship placements are as diverse as the students, but the common thread is real world practical experience that prepares students for a legal career. Examples of past placement sites include:

  • Steptoe & Johnson, LLP
  • Montgomery County Public Defender's Office
  • Animators at Law
  • BET Interactive LLC
  • National Juvenile Defender Center
  • U.S. Patent Office
  • CT Corporation
  • Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA)
  • District of Columbia Court of Appeals
  • Exxon Mobil
  • Indianapolis Public Defender
  • Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation
  • MicroStrategy
  • Booz Allen Hamilton

While employment is not guaranteed, many of our students have proven themselves well during their internships and continue with full time employment at their placement sites after completing their certificate.
