Course Description

Course Description: 
Across industry, change management is the responsibility of leaders.  Whether change is initiated by organization leaders or a function of environmental dynamics, working through the new realities quickly becomes the responsibility of managers at all levels.  By analyzing case studies where change has failed and successes, participants will develop skills to look for potential pitfalls in change initiatives.

Participants will learn the tools and methods to incorporate vision, execute strategic planning models, motivate, influence, and inspire.  In this course, participants will learn to clearly define and communicate organizational objectives, and lead teams by making proactive decisions.

Weekend 1 – Topic: Managing Communication & Conflict (9 hrs) 
The first session focuses on communication at the individual level.  Participants will develop skills to manage and resolve conflicts in a positive and productive manner.  Strategies to outline a constructive problem solving approach by identifying alternative courses of action and implementing the best intervention alternative will be reviewed. 

Weekend 2 – Topic: Leading & Executing Change (9 hrs) 
The second session focuses on communication at the organizational level.  Participants will discuss the tools and methods to incorporate vision, execute strategic planning models, motivate, influence and inspire.  Participants will review methods to clearly define and communicate organizational objectives, and lead teams by making proactive decisions.  In addition, participants will analyze strategies to advance organizational objectives through clear messaging. 

Course Objectives:  
Upon completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Outline goals for critical conversations.
  • Review conversational approaches and select the appropriate strategy.
  • Analyze planning strategies to develop and execute a plan.
  • Critique organizational messaging plans.
