XPSP-503 - Legal Project Management
Course Description
Students will first learn Project Management Fundamentals and Project Management Planning and Controls and then how to apply core concepts to legal scenarios via case studies in Collection Plans, Production Plans, Trial Preparation Plans, and eDiscovery Program "plans“. Students will create group project plans and present them to a panel of leading Litigation Support and eDiscovery professionals.
This course satisfies the 35-hour education requirement to sit for the CAPM or PMP credential awarded by the Project Management Institute.
Course Objectives
Students who successfully complete the course will be able to:
- Describe the importance of project management in the delivery of value-added legal services
- Apply project management principles in the legal environment
- Adapt the five phases of a project (initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing) to the legal environment
- Understand the principles of cost management, human resource management, and change management to project execution
- Develop an effective project communications plan
- Identify, mitigate, plan for, and respond to project risks
- Properly close out a project and harvest knowledge
