Course Description

This three-week course offers an opportunity to practice conversational English with other participants in structured speaking activities led by an experienced instructor in the Intensive English Program at Georgetown University. Participants will first be introduced to common discussion strategies such as offering an opinion, asking for clarification, and agreeing and disagreeing. Then participants will use these strategies in pairs and small groups as they engage in a variety of speaking activities on topics of interest, including current events, social issues, culture, politics, and more. Instructor feedback will be given on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation during each class. YouTube, audio recordings, and online tools for grammar and vocabulary will provide support for some activities.
