Course Description

The first portion of Course 3 covers change and transformation. This module will focus on the challenges of operating in an external business environment that is changing around you. No firm, not even a successful Nakilat, can sit back and assume that conditions will stay the same and that the current processes and organization will continue to be profitable. In this module, you will look at how to map a pathway to future change before it is forced on the firm.  You will learn specific tools and techniques that make it possible for you as a firm leader to achieve this in tandem with others. The second portion of Course 3 covers innovation. Innovation is not dependent on creativity alone or uniquely gifted leaders. Likewise, innovation is not about the standard engineering product development lifecycle. There are many ways of describing innovation, but I like the way the economist Joseph Schumpeter described it. For him, innovation involves creative destruction and composed of three phases – invention, introducing a new product or method, and diffusion into the marketplace. Innovation involves bringing new products or services to market in a way and the right time to create new profit and enhance consumers’ experience.

In this module, you will explore innovation and develop some innovative ideas yourself. Have fun with this!
