Course Description

For the sake of what do we coach? What is the vision of the world that underlies our coaching moves and coaching plans? What is the larger purpose of our work as leadership coaches?

Course Description

In this intimate, challenging, vibrant new program, we will explore the emerging global conversation on "worldly leadership" and leadership development, non-Western views of leadership and leadership wisdom, and new awareness of where and from whom leadership emerges. Using cases and questions from participants' and leaders' own coaching portfolios, we will explore the participant's leadership platform as a coach, new definitions of what it means to be leader in an ever-more-connected world, and the developmental challenges of the global perspective.

Cura Personalis (care of the whole person) is a foundational value of Georgetown University and the implications of this value -- from the interpersonal to the global contexts -- is at the center of the workshop design as we create a container for caring and a self-reflective space to explore the challenges and opportunities to the "me" of a global leadership coaching perspective. Participants will be asked to commit to an activist move or action at the end of the program. If you are called to co-creating knowledge within a globally-attuned community of coaches, and are intrigued by making a commitment to transformational action in your own practice, please join us for this.

Course Objectives

This advanced coaching workshop will help you expand your capacity to:

  • Gain a clearer vision of new trends in global leadership development;
  • Learn new coaching moves to explore in their coaching practice;
  • Demonstrate a public commitment to action and a partner in learning to keep them accountable; and
  • Create a vision of how we coach to support the health and well-being of our relationships and institutions within a flourishing human community.
