Course Description

Small business ownership has been and continues to be the backbone of the U.S. economy. Over the pat 50 years, franchising has evolved into one of the most dynamic, transformative business strategies in the world. This course will cover the following key areas: 

  • History and Trends: Understanding the evolution of small business and where franchising comes from, and how they have evolved. Students will use this knowledge to evaluate the current trends and what might come next.
  • Legal Structures: Business ownership and franchising have unique and distinct legal structures, and to some extent, they are still an evolving body of work. Students will learn the details about the laws related to both small business ownership and franchising.
